Section 6 Policies

Clarification
If you do not understand any instruction or a question, please ask before the work is due. You will need to provide a specific description of the difficulty. For example, “I don’t know what happened to get from step 3 to step 4” or “I don’t know what a hamster is.”
Grade Corrections
If you discover a mistake in any graded work, please bring it to the attention of the instructor as soon as possible.
Participation
Keeping up with the lessons and assignments is vital to success in this course. Calculus includes some unexpected and, initially, unintuitive ideas. We need time to absorb the ideas and internalize them.
When life hinders you from making a deadline, please let the instructor know as soon as possible. To the extent possible we will find a solution to maintain your progress.
Failure to participate in the weekly assignments may be regarded as your withdrawal from the class and a faculty initiated withdrawal may be processed. Three weeks without participation in lessons or weekly journal will be regarded as withdrawal. Should the last date of your class participation be required, it will be determined by the last date of any material submitted by you. This date of last attendance may impact financial aid.
Late Work
Lessons and homework not turned in on time receive no credit. However, you can complete homework (or re-do it) and the online system will provide feedback. This is useful for studying.
Please arrange excused absences for exams before the exam if possible. If you cannot make arrangements before the exam, then you will have to earn standards on the remaining exams (all standards available all the time). If the university is closed for an emergency on an exam day, the exam due date will be extended a day.
Courtesy
Courtesy in a class is important for learning. Remember students and instructors come from varied cultures and backgrounds: be mindful of others as you interact.
